CLIENT: DFAIT
Project: Technical Project Manager on the procurement of MITNET I (2001) and II(2004). Preprepared all technical specifications and service level requirements for a secure private network between Ottawa and Canadian Embassies worldwide.
Service: In addition to all specifications, contributed a financial proposal evaluation methodology for the cost of undefined growth possibilities.
CLIENT: DFAIT
Project: To analyse the workplans for infrastructure capacity and y2k upgrades and mission moves to optimize the use of available resources during and before the end of 1999.
Service: Proposed a common task planning methodology and work plan that permits decentralized planning and imlementation with central co-ordination. Completed project co-ordination plans for 4000 days of effort at 130 international missions.
CLIENT: DFAIT
Project: To create Policies and Procedures for the management and operation of the International network between Ottawa and Canadian Embassies around the world.
Service: Examined existing procedures and policies, proposed a workplan to develop required new procedures and update existing procedures in a common and consistent format. Created a new Mitnet Control Centre Policy and Procedure Manual.
CLIENT: PWGSC
Project: To manage the testing of the Landis & Gyr implementation of the Canadian Automated Building protocol developed by PWGSC. Includes review of test plan and comment on completeness, supervise the testing, supervise and contribute to the writing of the CAB protocol test results report and edit the final report. The results of the tests form the basis for a recommendation to accept or reject the trial implementation.
Service: Conformance testing was performed for three supplier implementations of the CAB protocol. While some deviations were encountered these were resolved and repaired prior to completion of all tests. The three suppliers were found to conform to the protocol definition defined using ASN1.
CLIENT: CIDA
Project: To Examine the opportunities for CIDA participation in the IDRC PAN ASIAN Networking Program which will extend the reach of the Internet to unserved locations in countries in the Asean.
Service: The IDRC PAN Asia Networking Program was reviewed to determine the feasibility of the project, the opportunities and reasons for CIDA participation, and the manner of and conditions for CIDA contributions to the project. A proposal was submitted for CIDA participation in the project in India, Vietnam, China, Philippines and regionally.
CLIENT: Amoco
Project: To design, procure, and commission a VSAT communication system for system monitoring and control (SCADA) of a pipeline between Edmonton and Sarnia.
Service: System Engineering, preparation of technical specifications, Traffic analysis and modelling, and preparation of the Request for Proposals. This project was discontinued due to Canadian Government restrictions on the ownership of satellite earth stations used for international telecommunication.
CLIENT: CIDA
Project: To undertake project completion assessment of a 60 Mbps TDMA Satellite communication system between Beijing, Urumqi, Guangzhou and Shanghai.
Service: This project required site visits to the four locations in China and included discussions with representatives from China Telecom, Shanghai Telecom, Guangzhou Satcom Bureau, Xinjiang Radio Communication Bureau, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, Comstream, and Cida local staff.
